It's about an 8-hour game and 2 of that you get to play. The rest is cutscenes. I think Worm posted a jpeg contrasting old and new FPS level design, where new is just 3 hallways with cutscenes at each end. Sega must have seen that and based their entire game around it. It's just endless cutscenes. Run 20 feet while killing 3 dozen robots, cutscene. Run 10 feet down an empty hallway, cutscene. Put back in the game in a single room with a shop kiosk, and once you're done you're put back into a cutscene. Then a chapter end splash screen, and back to a cutscene. Then there's a super long cutscene before you kill the end boss, a super long cutscene after you kill the end boss, a long unskippable credit sequence, before capping it all off with a cutscene. I've never been so exhausted with having to do so little. |
