When I was thirteen, my friend's dad painted his Charger up like the General Lee, as advertising for the body shop he ran out of his garage as an excuse to cosplay his car. He seemed nice enough otherwise, though. I remember the first time we met, he called his wife over and asked who I reminded her of. Apparently he was thinking Fred Savage! This made her visibly embarrassed, I guess because she took it in a they all look alike way rather than a this kid should be on TV way.
Anyway, after historical wargames, the most common use for confederate flags in gaming these days is probably making fun of rednecks. That seems like a pretty good reason for white people to want the whole idea disappeared. |
