Balkoth the Lord of Death starts out with a huge head start over all the other lords, none of whom have actual control over their capitols yet. Defeating the Lord of Death wins the game, defeating any of the other lords does not, so you're pushed to try and create an alliance between the fractious lords against Balkoth. Until that happens, you're capable of making diplomatic deals with him like any other player.
Though you could make the argument that ultimately Balkoth is playing the same game as you. |
