I've never played a multiplayer game with a more demanding learning curve combined with zero opportunity to learn during an actual, frantically paced game. I am saying this as someone who has played Natural Selection, DotA clones, World of Tanks, and even EVE Online.
If you're not on team voice chat with friends, don't bother. If you're not willing to pour over strategy guides to know that this certain hunter is more like a medic than a trapper, or not to choose this hunter because they're redundant with another hunter, or to not hide in caves to evolve if another certain hunter is in the game, or you shouldn't eat anything that another certain hunter has crossed paths with because you're eating a tracking dart, then don't bother. The game is horrible at easily communicating any of this to you. How the fuck is this the same team that made Left 4 Dead with an obsession for player intuitiveness?
The game is nothing but a Tank mode mod for L4D, and it's not even as fun as the tank fights in L4D. I would have felt ripped off at $10. |
