The Sixth Sense is basically the only horror-movie-with-a-twist in my memory that retained any impact after I've seen the whole thing... because even once you know the twist, there's still a kid beset on all sides by real ghosts everywhere.
In The Others like pretty much all other HMWTs*, you're never going to be scared again because you intuitively know that nothing bad can *possibly* happen. It's funny, because I know that (SPOILER) Ellen Ripley is alive at the end of Alien but the story is still compelling every time because, I dunno, maybe this time she won't?! But if it were revealed that it was all a dream at the end, I'd never watch Alien again.
*so coined! |
