There's not quite as large of a fuck you random factor as FTL, bu the tradeoff is that the combat is just dull. Swiping enemies into oncoming obstacles is a pain to set up and the payoff is damage roughly the same as a single decent weapon shot, so what's the point?
Speed/handling stats are completely useless. All you want is range.
Suffers from another "fuck you" puzzle boss that you're going to die to over and over until you figure out the trick. I'd say the difficulty disparity between the final boss and everyone else is even larger than FTL. I was obliterating random encounters in under 15 seconds and even the mini-boss barely put a dent in me. Final boss? Could only destroy 2/9 sections before dying. Worse, they give you zero warning when you're facing it (as soon as you enter the vicinity of the ship with the final part); no chance to repair beforehand.
At least inbetween getting fucked over by the RNG in FTL, you had a satisfying Wrath of Kahn experience. Convoy you're watching your plink each other to death. Their only thing you control is their positioning and position doesn't matter.

I can't think of a single indie space game recommendation from you I enjoyed :( by fabio 12/04/2015, 7:58am PST
SAIIS is now freeware. Follow that link for a (comparatively primitive) demo! NT by Mischief Maker 12/04/2015, 10:05am PST
I'll play it safe and leave it at agreeing that Gratuitous Space Battles sucked NT by fabio 12/04/2015, 5:21pm PST
