This is a live LP from the stint that Wes Montgomery played with the Wynton Kelly Trio in New York. It's from an original LP (40 years old!), so there is a little scratchiness, but it's only noticeable in quiet sections and at the beginnings and ends of sides. Overall this LP is really well-preserved.
The tracklist is:
01.No Blues (Miles Davis) - 13:00
02.If You Could See Me Now (Dameron-Sigman) - 6:45
03. Unit 7 (Sam Jones) - 7:30
04. Four On Six (Wes Montgomery) - 6:45
05: What's New - (Burke-Haggart) - 6:00
Performers:
Wes Montgomery - Guitar
Wynton Kelly - Piano
Paul Chambers - Bass
Jimmy Cobb - Drums
If you're not familiar with Wes Montgomery or The Wynton Kelly Trio, let me assure you that these guys are incredible. Wes Montgomery is, in my opinion, the greatest guitarist that ever lived, and this is a great showcase. All of these tracks are amazing... particularly "No Blues" and the Montgomery original "Four On Six," which also makes an appearance on Montgomery's classic The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery... I am a great fan of that version, but I think this one positively kills it, thanks to Jimmy Cobb.
There's great stuff on this record.
Fussbett says that people don't like/aren't interested in jazz. True?
