Did anyone feel they did way too much of a sympathy grab/retcon with Killgrave? The unrequited romance angle was laid on a little thick, and I definitely didn't care for the back-and-forth. I don't see Killgrave as being invested in anybody particular (aside from himself). Also, it was very clear in the comic that he didn't rape Jessica. He used her as muscle, and she got to watch the depravity unfold while powerless to do anything about it.

we get all this background about his childhood and... Part of this is servicing ORIGIN STORY, but also having to do something with the character given the amount of screen time. I think Killgrave is better served as a "tease", and that's why he shouldn't be a front-and-center until the very end. Maybe, to start, he shows up near the end of an episode just to tell somebody to walk into traffic. Roll credits, and the viewer is left wanting more.

I was really hoping they weren't going to kill Killgrave, but of course they did. worm wrote:
I actually don't mind that they killed him Jessica should punch him so hard that it snaps his neck. Except, without a last minute 'now you have to avenge me' ploy that cheapens it. Jones is a contrast against the other heroes. She shouldn't need extra reason to kill the bad guy.

Though ultimately how they handled Killgrave gives me a lot of hope for The Punisher being in the second season of Daredevil. As much as I enjoyed Daredevil... this I'm skeptical about. I really only dug the MAX Punisher which is sandboxed in its own realm and doesn't quite fit Disney.
@ICJ: Daredevil was basically perfect for what it was. Can't complain. It's up there along with Capt America in things that I would have never expected to see done well. |
