| I don't want to address Diggle's mask because I try not to second guess Arrow's creative decisions or especially wig decisions. That way lies madness! I'll just say I was half expecting Diggle to become the Guardian, who has a much less ridiculous helmet and a useful but legally distinct from Captain America shield. Then they went and started calling him "Spartan", I suppose because they really are just picking names out of a hat at this point. So instead of being a big nerd about everything, I'm just going to talk about my favourite character: Laurel.
You have to admire how committed Laurel's been to manufacturing reasons to stick around after Oliver lost interest in her, to the point of becoming a total screwup alchoholic disaster zone. (This fits perfectly with the actress' natural range, which vacillates rapidly between stunned and unreasonably proud of herself.) I hope in season five she gets an arc where the team confront her eating disorder, which culminates in the reappearance of that cute little double chin from season one. Then she can take it way too far, ballooning up to 120 pounds or more, and Thea (and by Thea I mean Thea's obviously male stunt double, the one with lats like Bruce Lee) is forced to slap some sense into her head / food out of her mouth. She can go to alchoholics anonymous with her dad on Mondays and overeaters anonymous with her mom on Tuesdays and still have like five days left over for increasingly desperate canary cries for attention. Odds of being in the grave: worryingly high. :( |
