Fx continues to bleed out by Expired NSCP Options 02/12/2016, 2:28pm PST Mozilla is one of the saddest stories. Source went open right before the AOL buyout. The team failed to ship Firefox 1.0 until several years later. Now the process has swung in the other direction yet I can't say it's any improvement. Rapid releases aren't necessarily bad in themselves, however these aren't simply point releases with a few bug fixes. Mozilla OrgCorp pushes out new, inflexible, low value, features on a regular basis: WebRTC/Loop/Hello, Pocket, Reader, Push Notifications. Wow, remember when Firefox was intended to be a browser separated from the entire suite? Some of this can be minimized by compiling it yourself, but the patches get increasingly more difficult to investigate as time goes on. Their long term roadmap is to just go ahead and do what everybody else does. That will finally kill off the world of fully customizable browsers to give us yet another webkit appliance. No alternatives left anymore (That would be the cue for a tech blog comments section to chime in with "WELL I USE X" which is either powered by Chromium, or something that has basically no real support).
