On chapter 3.

The first 2 murders follow the formula: "super obvious secret at the start, twist near the end that may or may not change the killer, you will never guess the twist because it's based on information you do not get before it's revealed".

It follows the Persona characters in the same way that the junior detectives in Persona 4 were maddeningly retarded. The first case the murderer's name is literally spelled out at the scene and all they can do is stare at it and say, "It is not right side up, therefore cannot be letters. They must be numbers! Go ask everyone about numbers!"

The main character is an idiot and constantly walks into obvious setups.

One character straight up admits they plan on killing someone as soon as they work out a plan to get away with it, with another character happy to be their accomplice. The group is perfectly okay with continuing to let them walk around freely.

With the plot, I'm torn between my need for competent characters and being a sucker for these kind of setups. Your enjoyment of the latter may vary.

The trial gameplay is a little disappointing. It's lighter on deductive content than a Phoenix Wright trial and it tries to compensate with bullshit mini games. You can't just submit a piece of evidence to contradict someone's statement, you must "load" it as a "truth bullet" to "fire" it at the "weak point" of the text subtitles that fly across the screen. When you have the killer cornered, they put up a last stand by shouting, "You're stupid!" over and over again, which is enough to have the entire group turn and vote for you (despite zero evidence of you being the killer) unless you wear the killer down with a rhythm game.

Yeah. I'm still enjoying it despite all this. Not $30 though.

Although that's still $30 better spent than Battlefleet Gothic. Jesus christ.
