It's really boring. by Gutsby 05/16/2016, 5:45pm PDT I have no idea what would compel anyone to bother with Stellaris. The systems are intensely abstract and the resolution of conflict so unsatisfying that the entire thing just feels like a spreadsheet working at resolving itself. I liked HOI2 because history is a weird thing to try to turn into a game - the tension of playing it is playing it against reality. With Stellaris there is no tension, no character, no conflict. Just a bunch of data clusters bashing into one another. It really is a travesty of a game and I hope that there's a backlash visible enough that Paradox actually tries to put some heart into their future output. Stellaris is a disgraceful game that makes a mockery of their entire philosophy of game design. It's just dumb math. I hate it.
