There wasn't a groundswell of racist support for Trump, he got less of the popular vote than McCain or Romney. Hillary shrank her own voter base. I got dudes on this forum saying I convinced them to vote Hillary. How did I do it? By giving policy reasons, not by saying, "If you're not with her then you're just sexist!" Shit! Remember when Hillary surrogate and feminist icon Gloria Steinem went on Bill Maher's show and dismissed female Bernie supporters as a bunch of floozies trying to score dick? And the thing that makes it so farcical is when the primary was over and Hillary was facing an actual misogynist, she'd already emptied that clip crying wolf at the Bernie Bros. "Disqualify him, defeat him, unify the party later" was the Clinton campaign's announced strategy in the primary. Well she never got around to step #3 in the crucial swing state of Wisconsin, never tried to mend fences with the majority of voters who went with Sanders in the primary, never even bothered to give another speech here. The liberal vote was in her pocket and she could spend her energy instead on the fool's errand of trying to peel the moderate republican vote from Trump by marching out all the neocons who supported her. And as a result seeing a Hillary sign or bumper sticker in Wisconsin was as much a cause for excitement as spotting a loon. Running prime time campaign ads of little kids frowning at the TV screen while playing clips of Trump using dirty mouth wasn't going to motivate the voters she and her surrogates spent months calling bigots. And yeah, I'm gonna put salt in that wound for the next four years because it seems every other means to get neoliberal Democrats to wake the fuck up have failed.
