| Okay, it's definitely leaning too heavily on the "scene plays out to uncomfortable lengths" gimmick.
Opens with a 20 minute scene. Twenty minutes! The first half of that is edited so that it's indistinguishable from a youtube poop parody. I did eventually laugh at the conclusion to the scene, but jesus christ 20 minutes to get there. And this is from someone who thought Confused Matthew was an idiot for thinking 2001 dragged on too long. You know what that 20 minutes felt like? Going through a sequences from The White Chamber. In real time, like you're watching a Let's Play. I'm hoping it finally gets back to the 90% normal Twin Peaks formula, but it's feeling like Lynch found a way to con Showtime into giving him a budget for his experimental shorts. |
