They waste SO much time tracking down the guy who passed it to her, and it's all just so he can give the exact same exposition speech he gave her at the beginning.
Here's how the flow should have gone:
At most, look for the guy up until they find the abandoned house he was hiding in, with noise traps on all the windows. Creepy scene. Then end the investigation there. He's gone, and she gets a glimpse of what her new life will be. Take the time that you saved by cutting the investigation and have more scenes of them trying to come up with solutions or loopholes to the situation. Everyone watching this movie was coming up with their own ideas and theories. Have fun showing those!
The climax was lame. Every single person watching came up with a better end in their head.
(I think the very end was just showing that the temptation to pass it on to random people would always be there. The figure walking behind them wasn't for sure the entity, just showing that the paranoia will forever be there every time they're in public. That goes along with the scene of them in the high school parking lot where you can see a distant figure walking their way and the movie wisely never drew attention to it or gave you a definite answer)
(Why not just throw paint on the entity to make it forever visible and stand out?) |
