| A bunch of new Deathnote rules are pulled out of nowhere to shoehorn in Light "beating" L.
- Owner can will it to another owner, which will magically make them forget all about the note's existence and all memories of using it. - Owner can undo this by touching the deathnote again So the whole investigation is pointless with magic new rules that cover up all tracks and create endless patsies. Goth chick has a 2nd death note! And a 2nd death god! I can't even begin to remember the ridiculous convoluted steps Light sets up with her. It ultimately ends with Light telling Goth chick's death god that L is going uncover goth chick's involvement and get her the death penalty, so it writes L's name in its book and kills him. Yup, that whole "impartial observer" thing is gone. Pointless, redundant, less interesting copies continues to be a theme in season 2. Season 2 has Light take over as head of the investigation. Turns out L had been training a group of magical orphan genius children as successors. The lead one is an exact copy of L so why bother kill L off? More stupid loopholes in the rules. Turns out you can just tear off a piece of paper from the book and write on that to kill someone. Light puts himself under observation to throw off suspicion (again) but continues to kill people by hiding a tiny scrap of paper in a hidden compartment inside his watch with a needle to prick himself and write in blood. There is yet another deathnote proxy something about a crime lord stealing a deathnote and using it I can't even remember where that one went. There was an interesting angle starting in season 1 about Light pressuring to kill public leaders unless they shut down or revealed the investigators after him. This turns into a less interesting cult in season 2. I also can't remember where that plot went it ended so unremarkably. Ends with the magical orphan kids putting their hands together to form detective Voltron (no, really). They swap Light's henchman's deathnote with an exact replica and arrange for all the investigators to meet in a warehouse, knowing "Kira" will feed this info to the henchman with the magical demon eyes to see everyone's name. He writes down the name of everyone in the room but Light, giving away that Light is Kira. Light runs, his bored demon writes his name down to kill him, the end. |
