I just went to a festival last week where they showed a couple original series episodes along with Firewalk With Me and holy shit the contrast in directing quality is night & day. Camera angles! That actually complement gags! One note scenes that only last 2 minutes instead of 20! Ben & Jerry full of energy doing fun things instead of a deliberate middle finger to the audience! No spray painting shovels for 5 minutes straight! Fuck Lynch pulling that "Showtime isn't giving my vision the budget it deserves" stunt. If this is what he was up to, I'm actually with the studio threatening to pull the plug as soon as they got a look at his "vision".
