STD lost a lot of faith by having the most stupid opening scene for anything ever, basically they're lost on a desert planet talking about how no one can find them and they're gonna die. Somewhere along the way they talk about not being able to see stars so they can't tell where they're going. Then they come back on their own footprints! "You led us in a circle" and then the ship starts coming down (on a fucking pre-warp planet by the way) and the captain says "no I set a star" zoom out to see the federation symbol drawn in the sand by their footprints.
Other than that I really don't know what to think about it. The Klingons look like Necromorphs, very action trek, and you know the captain is going to die immediately and surprise she DOES.
Feels like the main character is named Michael solely to have it on the back burner to paint any criticism as transphobic. Also captain talks about "driving" a shuttle and calls first officer "number one", both feel like they're just there to bait out nitpicking.
Our hero goes from being the best human on vulcan, to first officer, to fucking court-martialed, and then next episode she's back on a ship and fist fights some klingons.
Looks like they just cribbed visuals from whatever(preview has a scene where a guy with star eyes is by a giant orange sun, ala elusive man) and didn't give much of a shit about source material, which would be fine if it was driven by a better cast (of which we're barely introduced to in the first two episodes) |
