The commercial sequel to Nitronic Rush, a freeware obstacle course racing game with a flying car and a heavy Tron aesthetic.
Distance makes some strong improvements to Nitronic Rush's handling, including a "thrust down" button that lets them get away with the kind of crazy tricks that NR relegated to the aftergame hard mode. Hitting a laser beam or buzzsaw is no longer an automatic death, it might just cut your car in half and you can try to maneuver with only two wheels to the next checkpoint where you'll regenerate.
It keeps the Tron aesthetic but also sprinkles in some horror movie feel in as the traps become thick and frenzied.
It has a random track generator that has you enter a word to use as its random seed and the results are often spooky. How does it know a "caltrops" track needs to be purple?
Fingers crossed they manage to finish it by the end of the year! |
