Everything I hear about living anywhere near the Big Apple is bad unless you have a heap of cash. Meanwhile someone here can get food and housing and city identification while couch surfing on AirB&B ('homeless') in a week, get income together inside of a month, proper housing in another month, and probably make smarter friends than whoever the fuck they've been hanging out with the first year. But everyone thinks, for some reason, that living with 35 million other humans in a metro area packed like a sardine can is better.

Just don't live across the river. That area's still coming up and will be for the next several decades, at this rate.
