But here's what I got: Helldivers, and They are Billions

Both games that are essentially about fending off hordes that should be a lot more fun than they are, but are hurt a lot by just not...feeling right. You know some UI/response/control factor that you can't quite put into words but can just feel?

Helldivers is like 1-4 player co-op Crimsonland. Should be a lot more fun than it is, but you've essentially experienced the whole game after 20 minutes. 90% of the unlocks are behind DLCs with no option to ever unlock them for free through grinding. The DLC equipment is also much, much better than the free stuff. Even at 50% off it's still $10 and $1.25 for each mini DLC pack, way too much for something that will probably get old after an hour.

They are Billions feels like an awkward mix of traditional RTS and survival crafting games. I've been playing it a lot but it's been bugging me the whole time. You play it like an RTS against a map infested with wandering zombies and have a certain amount of time before you have to fend off the final horde wave. Smaller waves spawn at intervals in the mean time. What gets annoying is it's very easy for single zombies to trickle in and if even one gets to a building, they destroy it and infect the workers in 5 seconds which sets off your typical zombie apocalypse chain reaction and it's an instant game over. Games are 2 hours and save option is locked to iron man mode. There's promise for this but it's early access and a lot of design, response, and balance issues need to be ironed out.
