I've been playing Boom Beach for about 5 years now, can't stop. If you like RTS games then most mobile attempts at that are horrible. Most cheat you on control of the troops or overburden the minimal interface with way too much fucking shit. Boom Beach is a fucking great combination of tower defense and RTS. You have a base that you build and grow over time that gets attacked periodically by other players that are of a similar strength. Like your base, you continually build up your troop strength and capabilities. There are lots of island bases that you attack and they do a great job at keeping it fresh by letting you choose to replace the opponent bases. They add specific campaigns on a rotating 7 day basis to keep things interesting.
I mentioned the trouble getting RTS on mobile and Boom Beach has an interesting solution for this. Instead of directly controlling each troop, you can throw flares to where you want them to move or attack. It's just enough control to keep things interesting without falling into the overcomplicated micromanagement that mobile RTS games fail at.
I does include micropayments but you don't have to spend any money to enjoy this game. |
