Off the top of my head, I can think of only a few good things in gaming -

1. Paradox Studios

2. CD Projekt RED, which seems to have replaced Valve as the auteur "When It's Done" studio

3. A couple of indie gems, namely Subset Games and 11 Bit Studios

Valve hasn't released anything in forever and is like the fucking Wonka factory of gaming now. Steam is filled with shovelware and it gets worse every day, drowning out actual good releases with no marketing budget.

Indie Gaming is mostly a cancer of lazy goldbricking where you pay ungodly sums for "Early Access" to half-finished shit that never gets finished.

Kickstarter's burnt itself out after people blew sunshine up their asses. Star Citizen is a joke bigger than Daikatana.

EA and Ubisoft just churn out boring turd after turd of unoriginal IP's they've been mining since 2005.

Multiplayer FPS gaming seems to be all about chasing the most recent trend and designing games for Twitch streamers so they'll sucker 14 year olds into stealing their daddy's credit card and racking up a huge bill on a free to play game. Or big-budget Hollywood-level AAA games that you have to keep up with constantly and make your 2nd dayjob in order to keep with "the meta". Lawbreakers pushed CliffyB into early retirement.

I've taken up tabletop gaming with friends just because it seems like there's so much dogshit on the market now with lame-ass Hollywood B movie writing. Maybe I'm just getting too old for this?
