It's what I expected. A great idea for level design meets a developer who wouldn't know decent gameplay if it crawled up and bit them on the ass. Jesus, the Gunhead is so slow and pokey and its afterburner boost such a massive letdown compared to the Galak-Z.
It's funny that all the strengths and weaknesses of this game are the inverse of Galak-Z. I'd love a game with Galak-Z's handling and enemy AI meets Cryptark's level design.
But if I were to declare a winner between the two, it's still Galak-Z. I'd rather fly a ship that's fun to control through levels that have a little too much dead time (which it's worth noting they addressed to the opposite extreme with their Void update) than face an action-packed tactical challenge in a ship that controls like a pig. |
