I had been listening to Marianas Trench all week, thought I'd do the right thing and buy one of their albums from their label. That way more of the money goes to them, right? Amazon only has the world's best customer service, pssh, let's think about others instead of ourselves.
Put the album in my cart, fill out address info for a digital download I'm going to pay for via PayPal, hit submit... get a download link.
Which lets me download a 5 second song called "test.mp3"
At this point I know what probably happened - the test file they use to test their website made it to prod and they didn't bother checking that path. I check my email where there is another download link. Same file.
I write them an email yesterday around noon asking for help. Nothing. Tweet at them last night. Nothing yet, but hey, they are in Canada but that doesn't mean Toronto. They could still be asleep. I will be a bit perturbed if I see them tweet ads all day today.
Next step is to try to get a refund out of PayPal for $9.99, which I am sure will be fun and easy. Why the fuck would anyone pay for music in 2018?
