A: it's not nearly as beautiful and B: part of what makes Stålenhag's stuff interesting is that his paintings all imply some kind of history. You have a vaguely futuristic station wagon parked by the side of the road and some tourists are taking pictures of a decades-old wreck of a gigantic spaceship in a mountain range. It's like a travelogue to a lived-in scifi setting. (And it looks awesome).
Rozalki's stuff is all like "Ok, DM rolls 1d20 and..." *checks table* "...you see a battlemech. And..." *rolls 1d20 again* "...a nazi barbarian." Not as intriguing. And again it doesn't look nearly as good. I don't know enough about art to comment about why that is. |
