That may be the original meaning of the word, but it has received a considerably worse reputation / meaning, especially as a result of the "false document" book, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion which purported to expose a conspiracy by world Jews to take control of the world's economies. For what it's worth, there is a lot of anti-Semitism in the world and you get something like that book, and it doesn't take much for the word "Zionist" to become a slur meaning "Jews out to own the world and leaving everyone else to starve." |
