Look at me getting taken to cyber school by this prick!by Dream Cast 06/17/2018, 2:17am PDT
Cyber stuff is our generation's Beatles and William Gibson is our generation's fifth Beatle.
There's kind of a lot going on in this sentence, so let me try and unpack it for you. First, I didn't say the big four(?) cyberpunk authors were the Beatles. I didn't even say cyberpunk was the Beatles! I specifically said cyber STUFF was the Beatles. Cyberpunk is cyber stuff, but so is Dotto's Data Cafe.
How did the word cyber not make it into those lyrics, when it rhymes so perfectly with high-fiver? And they high five like three times? Fucking mystery. Anyway, the important thing about the fifth Beatle is thirty-seven different people have been described as or more likely described themselves as the fifth Beatle, from Brian Epstein to George Martin to you, Pete Best. And the important thing about all the various fifth Beatles is none of them were all that important to the Beatles. I don't have an axe to grind with William Gibson, or any particular opinion on his opinion of Cyberpunk, I just saw his name pop up here and thought I could squeeze half a joke for a caption for an IGN tweet out of it. Did I cruise too close to the mosaic sun? I guess that's up to you.
