When I think of Dr. Jordan Peterson I think of a well-educated, very bright and talented person.
I also see him as someone with opinions which I think either are wrong or that I think he has failed to use the same level of critical analysis he has applied to other subjects.
One of the things I think he has not analyzed correctly is the Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW) movement. He appears to be applying the wrong analysis to the issue. The MGTOW movement is people who look at the standards of relationships as well as the legal requirements of marriage, childrearing, and have come to realize that society grants to women in terms of alimony, child custody, and even to basic standards of legal responsibility, a set of conditions that treat men as second-class citizens.
I could do a whole article or more about MGTOW and I probably will at some point, but this articla is about the opinions of Dr. Peterson.
The other opinion of his I disagree with is his religious faith. I personally am an Atheist because I can no longer accept the concepts of Chistianity in particular and belief in a god or gods in general. As the saying goes, "There have probably been 10,000 gods invented by humans throughout history, including Thor, Wotan, Jehovah, Allah, and thousands of others. Your average person does not believe in 9,999 of these gods as being valid. The atheist simply disbelieves one god further." |
