It was objectively a shit movie, more disappointing because by we can't blame George Lucas 08/29/2018, 6:58pm PDT Ten years ago if you asked a Star Wars nerd what his secret Star Wars nerd fantasy was it'd be something along the lines of "George Lucas being prevented from ruining everything further by handing the franchise to people that loved the story with infinite dollars." That's how the sale to Disney was framed and the expectations of SW nerds went to 9000. Then at the last minute, these nerds were told they were entirely the problem in the first place and that adults were going to fix everything. The result, ultimately, was the Last Jedi. Which, no offense, was a truly terrible movie. I personally don't give a fuck but I can sympathize with nerds that can't forgive a clumsy, subversive attempt to usurp the cultural and financial engine that is (was?) Star Wars and fucking up everything so thoroughly and so according to SJW formula.
