I'd call it a 3rd person action RPG. What I meant when I said it was similar to Bloodborne is that combat largely revolves around targeting an enemy out of a larger group, dodging around with the Circle button making sure you don't get cornered, manage your stamina bar while attacking.
In regards to combat, the key difference between games like Bloodborne or Dark Souls is the healing mechanics. In those games you have limited healing tied to your Estus Flask or your Blood Vials. In Vampyr you instead have a blood bar that you can use to heal yourself, and if you can keep yourself topped up on blood you can keep fighting indefinitely. To gain blood in combat you have to deplete an enemy's stun bar, usually using off hand attacks or parries that deal stun damage. When they're stunned, you can feed off them. |
