I lived in Long Beach, California from 1972 to about 1987. I sometimes visited Los Angeles either to use one of the greatest libraries in the world, the main branch of the Los Angeles (city) Public Library, or to look for work. One time I stopped for lunch in a small LA restaurant and the counterman talked me into a fantastic sandwich. A cheeseburger, topped with Polish sausage and smothered in chili.
I have made it myself on a few occasions, even once serving it to my brother-in-law. He thought it was delicious too. It's probably one of the contributing factors to my congestive heart failure.
