Dumbshit managers that gleefully embraced rank and yank thought they had a great idea to lower costs by firing employees that made important contributions. Amazed it backfired. I will never trade in my copy of Windows 7.
Before releasing any kind of software you need a human being you using it before customers do. It doesn't matter how much community sourcing, free labor, insider programs, offshore leveraging and automation you have. If a person you directly pay and can see every day isn't doing it first then your customers are. How this has become the most difficult concept to get across in software development is beyond me. You'd have to be fucking stupid to manage product in this industry and not understand and accept it.
