Microsoft has been rubbing elbows with Google a lot lately. One interesting tidbit is that, since MS bought github, it now owns the Electron project (the tech used for VS Code, Slack, Discord, etc). Electron is chromium-based as well, so maybe MS is angling towards replacing native (or sort-of-native like UWP) apps with something that looks more like Electron. Interesting times.

The real negative is the web heading toward a monoculture like the bad old days of IE6. Apple and Mozilla are the only real holdouts left.
