And even Iron Man 1 & 2 were only "different" because they hadn't settled on a set formula yet, but compared to the first two X-Men movies, they still were non-offensive, pretty banal action flicks. Seriously, the whole MCU is just pandering, low grade, formulaic, popcorn films that'll only survive until everyone gets sick of the novelty. The only ones that even hinted at something different were the Guardians of the Galaxy films and even those were only impressive because Gunn pulled off an ensemble cast under the MCU pretenses (which is I guess also why the Avengers is any good at all.)
Your enthusiasm / trust in the MCU in general (and "giving them a last chance") is strange as the movies have never been good, much less under the criteria you noted. Don't really know what to make of it except as a fanboyish "I won't like it unless they make it how I want it! (But I've seen all the movies in theater at least three times, bought them multiple times on whatever format they've released them, and talk about them whenever I can.)" |
