It's an interesting movie in that it turns from a horror movie into a tragedy when you see it a second time. I guess there are a lot of movies like that: THE WITCH and the aforementioned LET THE RIGHT ONE IN come to mind. What sets this movie apart is that - unlike THE WITCH, unlike LET THE RIGHT ONE IN - there is a part of the movie where a happy ending was possible, but the opportunity for salvation gets missed, and all is lost.
This is still a positive review. |
