ICJ I am 95% sure your Win7 key will not activate Win10 and you are going to have to give Microsoft some amount of money as a penalty for not upgrading when they asked you to.
The kill signal for Win7 is that as of January 2020 they are no longer supporting Win7 at all which means that all Win7 computers will be pwned by the first security problem found after that date and will never be fixed. It is this year's version of WinXP: beloved, but no one lives forever, and its time has come. Win10 is not as good as Win7 but that's only because everything is worse than it used to be. Your new Windows PC build must be Windows 10 because it is essentially the only Windows OS available.
For what it's worth, as a person that works on both macOS and Windows software...Microsoft is extremely, extremely good at keeping old shit working on their current platform. The user experience might be degraded but generally things that worked in WinXP still just work, whereas software that ran on OS X 10.1 (which came out the same year) will almost definitely not on run on 10.14. |
