Re: I can't believe nobody mentioned Bernie Sanders going on Rogan. by Roop 08/11/2019, 8:16pm PDT
He recently said that he's never voted for a Republican in his life, so he's you're kind of dude, don't know what you heard or read about him. You should watch more of his shows.

Rogan's an intellectual dark web guy, sure, but it's all bullshit man, I think it's just all these dudes all share the same PR agency or something, that's all. It was never even really a political show unless somebody was making a joke. Early episodes take place backstage at the comedy club, just capturing what it was like when comedians sat around with comedians, where things really got good only going into hour three. That became the format, three hours unedited, and he found this works with just about anybody and he never changed the format because he said "people like it." He may be a meathead but to make up for this, he sincerely listens to what whatever it is the guests have to say.

Now ya gotta be selective. I hadn't gotten to this Bernie Sanders one yet. He also interviewed Tulsi Gabbard and Andrew Yang, and I'll get around to watching them all together eventually. I watched the clips from Tulsi & Yang, his producer puts out clips from the episodes. Cartoon once in a while.

Sometimes he gets a little too baked with some guests, this can be good or bad, say with Tommy Chong it may be a matter of taste. Would you enjoy hearing these two talk out their asses for three hours? The interview begins with a false premise and an incorrect fact and goes from there. You'll either pull your hair out or choose not to notice.

He had this chick, Courtney Dauwalter, on once who runs these ultra marathons. She beats everyone, destroys: men, women, robots, everyone by this crazy margin. These are the good kind of interviews, where he finds somebody like this and tries to learn their story. He gets her to describe running with no sleep, and at one point she's completely blind, caked with blood.

That's all he was doing when he had Sargon of Akkad on his show. You can tell he doesn't really know who this English dude is, he keeps appearing in the papers and when they got into it you could tell Rogan barely had any idea what Gamergate was or who Arkeesian is. Sargon came to Rogan's immediately after she had finished telling him off from the stage of that Con that time, so he was still fuming about Sarkeeeeesian and Rogan has no idea WTF was this guy losing it. Sargon admits in the interview that he could stay... or miss his flight back to England. He stayed in LA to finish the three hours.

He made Candace Owens look like an idiot. Well, he didn't really, she did herself by not having thought through what she was talking about. All the kids love that one. Again, Rogan's secret: It happens at the end of the interview, that's always when it gets good.

Rogan's not about grilling people though. Not that kind of interviewer. He had on Jack Dorsey, and everybody complained. Rogan doing what he always does, but he didn't know the difficult questions to ask that people wanted asked because he's just the meathead remember, getting people's story's for three hours. So he had Dorsey back on a second time, only this time with his lawyer, and he brought Tim Pool on to ask the questions for him he didn't know. That was actually a pretty good show, but unusual for Rogan.

He's popular enough now to have on Elon Musk, but the better interview is probably when he later had on Youtuber Rich Benoit, who bought up junked Teslas and then rebuilt himself a Jailbroken Tesla.

There are a lot of good celebrity interviews, Henry Rollins and David Lee Roth were two recent ones that were good. Both of them: probably insane. Love them, hate them, just saying.

One of the best Rogan Interviews, I think, was when he had on comedian Barry Crimmons, who has since died. This guy lived one hell of a life, and at the time of the interview it was a pretty good time, he had conquered his demons and lived to tell about it. He had exposed pedos on AOL chat back in the day, had been molested himself.

It's still best when he has a good comedian on. Joe idolizes Joey Diaz, so these are worth checking out because it... encourages Joey. Joey Diaz has his own podcast now, took Joe's concept of getting celebrities high and took it to extreme levels. Joey had LA comedian Owen Benjamin on his show one time, casually fed him Stars of Death. Chomped a few himself, interview proceeds. Eventually Owen just got wildeyed, could only choke and not even speak, sitting there looking around. Man stepped out of the interview for a bathroom break maybe to splash water on his face--but never came back. Started wandering traffic then eventually ended up in a forest back east somewhere. Today he is still crazy, paranoid and by a fire, making his own alt-right podcasts, somewhere out there with the mountain lions.
