Sorry, I didn't see mention of active Uranium mining by China, nor their presence in Greenland, nor as to why that should be scoffed off in the article.
The primary reason wouldn't be to sell the fuel. It's for their ambitious nuclear program (in part to ease off of coal). Last time I saw a chart, probably circa your link, it was mostly "planned" reactors, and they weren't getting nearly enough tons of Uranium required locally hence the expansion into other countries. With the alluded to lack of quality control: I can't say I'd trust 'em too much either.
