The one feature that would get me excited about a new Diablo. by Jerry Whorebach 11/06/2019, 5:50am PST
Would be if they made it grid-based again, like the first one. That sort of spatial quantization doesn't exist in real life, only in games, and I unashamedly love it. There are lots of places where I can get the satisfaction of a slot machine, but only so many where I can get the satisfaction of moving square-by-square in real time with metronomic precision. It seems like we have a name for almost every kind of perversion these days, even listening to Bob Ross whisper about clouds, but I'm still high and dry on this grid thing.

Think about the tentative, start-stop approach of skeletons when you enter their room. How they cluster around the door after you back out again. The self-sorting politeness with which they march into the breach. The experience is gratifying in a way that's unique even among video games.
