I remember when my dad lost his mind, the first thing to go was his sense of humour. For him to recognize the comedic ridiculousness of what I was saying back to him, he'd also have to recognize the comedic ridiculousness of what he was saying in the first place, which would've made me the happiest kid in the world. A guy like that, as long as you don't explicitly contradict him, all he's going to hear is a chorus of approval.

I'm not saying the woman in the OP is crazy. She probably just raised some sassy sitcom kids. Good job, mom! I bet their only regret is it's too late to breastfeed.
