| In 2012 during a presidential debate, Obama appealed to the moderator about a lie Romney told, and the moderator fact-checked him.
In the 2020 Sanders/Biden debate, Joe Biden made a bald-faced Trumpian lie that he never called for cuts to Social Security even though we have the goddamn C-SPAN footage of him saying it and when a visibly flabbergasted Bernie turned to the moderators, not only did Dana Bash NOT give the truth, she asked a followup question where she said, "Well didn't you, in [interview] also call for alterations to social security?" Bernie was forced to that the alteration he was calling for was an INCREASE to social security. Now I want to make explicit what was going on here. Biden was saying a bald-faced lie about what no doubt will be one of his biggest liabilities in the general, and not only didn't the CNN moderators fail to set the record straight, they had prepared oppo on Bernie to bring to Biden's defense when SS was brought up, worded in a deceptive way to mislead their audience think Bernie wanted to cut social security too, and put Bernie on the defensive in what should have been his strongest moment. So Bernie was forced to shrug his shoulders and tell the audience to "go to the youtube." That's just one example. There are many more, like when Joy Reid plucked a body language interpreter from their carnival booth to describe Bernie's sinister movements on national TV. But honestly for my own mental health I can't talk about this much more tonight. Ask me again in a week or so. I'm looking at the MSM's behavior this primary the same way I look at Julian Assange's decision to release the Clinton hacks in a trickle over the entire campaign to maximize political benefit to Trump. |
