I dunno, ICJ, I'm bouncing off this game but can't really articulate well why it doesn't grab me. So I don't think I'll be able to give you a quality review.
It comes in feeling like this super-fast thrill ride, but once you get into gaming mode it turns out not to be that fast after all, and there's this confusion over whether it wants to be a 2D ace combat, or a bullet-hell dodger, or some kind of jousting game.
I got maybe halfway into the campaign and unlocked a perk that drops your max health from 3 to 1 for the benefit of suddenly being able to out-turn your enemies which is a total game changer. So maybe if I get to the endgame I'll have a bunch of great perks that turn it into the game it should have been from level one?
Gonna have to pass on reviewing this one. I'd much rather do an in-depth review of Streets of Rage 4. It's definitely a game that grows on you. |
