The advertising team at Google doesn't really "do deals." They don't really have a sales team in the normal way. Instead, they maintain a platform that customers use.

Google definitely has the infrastructure and the talent to maybe pull it off. Obviously it would need to follow a YouTube-like model of local datacenters to driver a low(er) latency experience. For now it seems to be the same as the other attempts in that you can run a great demo in SoCal...
Dude, Google has like a zillion data centers around the world. They have some handicaps in this race, but lack of local data centers is definitely not one.
The Stadia Question appears ripe for a new CALTROPS long (medium?) bet.
I'll take one side of that. I bet they shut it down OR spin it off within 10 years.
It takes a certain savvy to go from Indian poverty to CEO and turn a snotty Silicon Valley offer into power. I get the sense Sundar is a lot more aware and critical of the dynamics at Google than he lets on. Yeah, he's a shark. No way he just happens to end up the face of the company.
Meh, I think you're overthinking it. Larry and Sergey didn't want another Fucking White Male heading the company (diversity!) and they wanted someone who wouldn't threaten their grand vision.
Sundar kind of reminds me of Tim Cook in some ways. |
