This is probably the most fun I've had with a Remedy game, and I really like the game's whole Beyond the Black Rainbow aesthetic (minus the music, sadly).
But messing around with the limited slideshow ray-tracing my 1660 is capable of showing, I've come to the conclusion that this game's aesthetics don't work without ray-tracing. So much of it is about lightplay off reflective surfaces and without it enabled the whole game looses its ooky atmosphere and kinda becomes as boring as wandering through concrete brutalist architecture can be in real life.
I mean it's the most fun I've had in a Remedy game, that doesn't mean it's fantastic as a general game. The latter Saints Row games offered way better action. Plus there's this thing with Remedy games where the mouseaiming in them is always "off" in a way I've never seen replicated in other shooters, so I had to swallow my pride and enable aim-assist to actually have some fun in the fight scenes. |
