| My tiny, 16 year-old Chihuahua, Piglette, has been sick for the last couple of weeks. Difficulty breathing, not wanting to eat, and she actually passed out while trying to poop a couple of times. I took her to the vet, and she ended up staying the night at a special animal hospital. That was pretty expensive! She's home now but she's on oxygen for a few days, which for a dog means a concentrator and a tiny Oxygen ICU Cage (TM) -- a fabric and clear plastic thing that she sits in while the oxygen flows in.
What's interesting is a) I wouldn't have been able to pay for this if I hadn't gotten hit by that crazy girl and gotten an insurance payout and b) her momma, my late wife, had also been on oxygen for a few years before she passed away. So it's just weird having a concentrator in the house again :) Hopefully with this treatment and her new meds, she'll live for a few more years. We'll see. |
