R-Type Final 2 is a disappointment. (So is Battle Axe) by Mischief Maker 05/01/2021, 8:04am PDT I'm much more an bullet-hell fan than an R-Type memorizer one, but this looked really pretty in the trailers and quarantine has driven me bonkers. Unfortunately most of the levels in the second half of the game look downright unfinished in terms of textures and shaders. If the graphics on the PS2 R-Type Final's giant battleship level look head-and-shoulders better than your UE4 one, you've fucked up. Had the game been $20, I'd have stuck it out for the spaceship pokemon. But for $40, this was a refund. Battle Axe looks great, but the gameplay is confused whether it wants to be a Mercs-style isometric run-n-gun, or a Ys-style hack-n-shash, so it excels at nothing. Also the default keyboard (and gamepad) layout is terrible and you can't remap. Two refunds in one day!
