Your best bet is to quickplay into a group of 3 other people that are SERIOUS TACTICAL GAMERS and making intense callouts over voice chat.

Oh fuck I gotta reload! There's zombies on me.

Kevin, get the sniper rifle. We could really use some sniper cover.

Watch our backs! They come in from the back. It's a serious blind spot.

[someone accidentally scares birds and we all almost die]
See? This is what happens when we g e t birds.

Use your toolkit and get this heavy machine gun. We'll need it for the event. You said you had a toolkit. What? What do you mean it failed on the door earlier? How did your toolkit fail, you said you had one? Oh shit, we really need that machine gun.

The deadpan tone of dread and frustration was hilarious. Then they all got incapped and I experienced my first game-breaking bug where no matter what I tried I couldn't interact to resurrect anyone.

Ok, pick me up.
He's just.....he's just dancing on your body.
[sigh] Yep, that's exactly what he's doing.
Come on, just pick someone up.
[realizing I can't do anything, so I try to book it to the safe room]
Oh, come on.
Great. Great job, buddy. You just threw the mission.

Also, a few things I left out of my earlier post plus some thoughts after a little more playtime.

There's a card system which is basically a perk / challenge system. You can create a deck to draw perks from before each mission to give yourself bonuses, and the game will also draw cards to add additional challenges. If you played Vermintide 2, it's kind of like the deed system in that. Or a bunch of other games that add random challenges for variety.

The shop feature seems like a nice idea, but I can see it turning into a huge headache. I got into a game where we spent like 20 minutes at the start of the level because people spent forever fucking window shopping, and then every 5 feet into the level they would double-back to restock health and ammo. They should add a timeout so you don't spend 10 years waiting for people who abuse the shop.

Unless you're just absolutely terrible at FPS games or L4D-style games, I recommend playing 1 or 2 rounds on the lowest difficulty just to get oriented, and then if you quickplay only check the middle difficulty. It's a more fun level of challenge instead of a boring steamroll.

The levels seems really short. I'm hoping it's just because they're the early levels of the first act so they're training wheels. It'll be really shitty if that's the average length.
