| Did you ever see the 1956 film The Searchers? You probably have, since it's an American classic, but if you haven't then you should get on that because it's awesome. John Wayne plays a racist, misogynist, diehard Confederate sonofabitch, who also happens to be the baddest motherfucker on Planet USA. His niece gets kidnapped by Injuns and he goes searcherering for her. Not to rescue her, like today's modern soyboy cuck, but to put her out of her misery. If she's been RUINED by some big-dick brave, he'd rather see her dead than mother to a half-breed freak.
Prey is kind of like The Searchers played straight. Tommy's squaw gets abducted by aliens, but by the time he finds her they've already used their alien technology to transmutate her into a half-breed freak. So Tommy has to mercy honour kill her with his pipewrench. I don't know if this reflects any specific Injun cultural tradition of honour killing, or just the fucked-up psychology of whichever guy at 3D Realms thought vagina doors would be unsettling, but given they literally named him Tommy Hawk (changed to Tommy Dawodi sometime between announcement and release) I'm putting my money on the latter. (It's still probably the best walking sim ever made.) |
