MORE THOUGHTS:

I'll take back a little of what I said about the UI. Some of it is still confusing to parse, and some of it was just getting used to it. I think the big problem I have (that still exists) is that figuring out how to do certain things through the UI is impenetrable and you just have to guess and see what works. Other times they add extra clicks or click modifiers for things that just shouldn't require it, or different UI rules for one action but not the reverse (for example, you can't double-click an item in your inventory to put it into your bank, but you can double-click an item in your bank to move it to your inventory). The game also goes out of its way to try and show you the 10 different keyboard combo actions you can perform with any given item, but sometimes leaves out the very vital step of how to complete that action. When splitting a stack of items it shows you the combo that brings up a little dialog to let you select how many you want to separate, but to complete the split, clicking the item icon doesn't work, double-clicking doesn't work, pressing the Enter key doesn't work, etc. Instead, you have to drag and drop the icon out of the dialog which will make the discard window suddenly appear and allow you to drop stuff. This may seem minor, but this kind of thing comes up repeatedly where you fumble around trying to figure out seemingly simple tasks.

This might be one of the first action games since 1998 to not have any kind of lock-on targeting. This may not seem like a big deal, but there's weapons with special abilities that shoot in a line out in front of you so you have to make sure to PERFECTLY LINE UP your attacks. It's also confusing because in the keybinds there's option for cycling targets, but it took me like 5 hours to notice that only applies to a healing staff.

The game seems to discourage party play, or it's bugged. Me and a friend were playing and completing the same quests at first, but then suddenly the same people started giving us completely different quests in different areas with different objectives. The fuck is that?

Obviously I have no idea about the high-end content. My impression is that you join a faction and then it's kind of like Planetside where you PvP to take over territory across the map. I don't know if there's the equivalent of dungeon or raid instances.

There's crafting and gathering and you have access to everything and aren't limited to choosing this or that profession. You can harvest just about the entire planet. You can literally chop down any tree, harvest all of the plants and bushes, you can obliterate entire boulders with a pickaxe, etc. All of that stuff respawns after 5+ minutes, but I'm sure players will coordinate at some point to see how much they can raze the landscape.

So far, I'm not sold on this game enough to consider buying it at launch.
